Regional Conferences

 

Regional and State-level conferences/seminars/workshops have been held from time-to-time so as to enable greater interaction among members and networking with other institutions. Hence, these are generally organized by IAWS in collaboration with different institutions. Recent regional conferences have focused on issues related to feminist knowledge production, the struggle to transform disciplines, archiving women’s lives and other such concerns.

  • 2009: Mangalore (Southern Region) – Re-affirming Plurality, Seeking Justice and Democracy, organized by Centre for Women’s Studies, University of Mysore, Mysore in collaboration with the PG Department of Social Work, School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, Mangalore

  • 2007: Shillong (North-Eastern Region): Feminist Scholarship in North-Eastern India: Retrieving and Reconstructing Women Departments of History and Political Science, organized by NEHU, Shillong

  • 2007: Jammu Tawi (Northern region): Institutionalizing Women’s Studies, Education and Schooling from a Gender Perspective, with a special emphasis on the local context and conflicts in Jammu and Kashmir Women’s Studies Centre, organized by University of Jammu, Jammu Tawi and Centre for Women’s Development Studies, New Delhi.

  • 2007: Amravati (Vidarbha Maharashtra): Lingbhav Jadan-ghadan aani Bharatiya Streevad (The concept of gender and Indian feminism) organized by Women Lecturer’s Association, Sant Gadgebaba Amravati Vidyapeeth, Amravati

  • 2007: Kolkata (Eastern region): Feminism and the Production of Knowledge organized by School of Women’s Studies, Jadavpur University, Kolkata

  • 2007: Bangalore (Southern region): Feminist perspectives and the Struggle to Transform the Disciplines organized by Women’s Studies Dept, United Theological College, Bangalore

  • 2007: Mumbai (Western region): Archiving Women’s Lives: Issues and Perspectives organized by Dept of Sociology, Mumbai University

  • 2006: Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala): Women’s Studies and Education – Issues and Concerns, organized by Sakhi Resource Centre for Women (Kerala State-level workshop)

  • 2005: Kolkata (Eastern and North-eastern regions): Women and Security, organized by School of Women’s Studies, Jadavpur University, Kolkata

  • 2004: Kurukshetra, Haryana (Northern region): Women and Civil Society, organized by Kurukshetra University

  • 2004: Mumbai (Western region): Women’s Studies – Teaching and Research, organized by RCWS, SNDT Women’s University

  • 2004: Allahabad (Northern region) -- Women Hold up Half the Sky, Organized by Women’s Advisory Board, University of Allahabad
